Outreach

St. Paul’s Church is involved in a wide range of outreach activities, all of which are part of the fulfillment of our vision and mission to spread love and to build community. These activities are local, state, national, and international in focus, which expands our parish family well beyond our church building and widens the minds and hearts of every member of our church.

If you are interested in learning more about any of these ministries, or you’d like to participate, call the Parish Administrator at 401-294-4357 to be put in touch with the parishioner who is the shepherd for that ministry.
“The Lord shall watch over your
going out and your coming in.”

– Psalm 121
LOAVES and fishes at st. paul's
An initiative to feed the hungry in partnership with Loaves and Fishes RI, an ecumenical effort to combat homelessness in RI, currently serving people experiencing food and housing insecurity in Woonsocket. Parishioners support this effort by purchasing food and ingredients, assisting with food preparation in the Parish Hall kitchen, and driving to Woonsocket to deliver and serve food to those in need.
feeding the 500 project
An initiative in cooperation with the NK Food Pantry where parishioners come together to feed hungry families in North Kingstown at Christmastime.
our little roses (olr)
This initiative supports the only girls’ orphanage in Honduras, a country with over 250,000 orphans. Fr. Spencer Reece began his priesthood at this orphanage and credits his experience there teaching poetry to the 72 girls in residence with forming the priest who leads us at St. Paul’s today. Parishioners at St. Paul’s sponsor 30 of the girls at OLR. In spring of 2025, St. Paul’s took its first ever mission trip to Honduras. On this trip, The Butterfly Project was born. The missioners took paper butterflies and craft supplies for the girls to decorate butterflies to suspend over the pews in St. Paul’s as a symbol of resurrection and new life.
14 gold street spiritual refuge series
An initiative that brings writers and other artists to St. Paul’s Church to honor creativity and its power to see the grace of God. Visiting writers give a public reading of their work at the North Kingstown Free Library, after which Fr. Spencer opens his home and prepares a meal in their honor. Since January 2023 when the series began, more than 700 people in the community have listened to nearly three dozen writers reading from and talking about their work. Marie Howe, a poet friend of Fr. Spencer, was with us in September 2023 and went on to become the 2025 Pulitzer Prize Winner for Poetry.  Visit our Events page for upcoming programs in the series.
st. elizabeth's home visits
An initiative that brings the St. Paul’s community to St. Elizabeth’s Home in East Greenwich. Fr. Spencer Reece serves Holy Communion to the residents the first Friday of the month and he is accompanied by parishioners who want to embrace this community and to let them know they are not alone.
ecumenical relationships
An initiative to reach out to other churches in North Kingstown. We have established relationships with the North Kingstown United Methodist Church, the Alpha & Omega Deaf Church. With the former, we offer a shared Bible study and book discussion, and with the latter, we regularly attend their weekly services and sponsor ASL interpreters so their members can attend our annual Christmas Pantomime. St. Paul’s also participates in the annual Lenten Soup Luncheons that take place throughout Lent at most every church in North Kingstown.
