Invitation

St. Paul’s, Wickford, is a loving, welcoming and inclusive community of Christians from different backgrounds and at different milestones on our individual faith journeys. We are also a multi-generational community which offers a variety of worship and liturgical experiences.

We are linked by our desire to worship God, serve our community, and grow our church. We are bound together by our shared faith and relationship with Christ and by a desire to seek unity in the midst of our differences. Individuals are welcomed, supported, and valued.

At St. Paul’s, acceptance and forgiveness are cherished precepts, expressed in our reputation as the “church with open doors.” Parishioners as well as passers-by take frequent advantage of these open doors for rest and prayer.

Parish life is truly inseparable from the worship life of shared prayer. We express our worship through individual and corporate prayer and through a broad spectrum of parish activities and ministries, while we maintain a strong commitment to providing programs, leadership and financial resources for outreach to the wider community. The parish’s vitality and stability are exemplified by our strong financial position and by our high level of participation in worship, lay leadership, and concern for others.

We are a community whose members are encouraged to discover, express, and use our individual gifts. We are deeply proud of our long history and rich traditions, ready to be led by the Holy Spirit into new and changing territories.

It is important to note that St. Paul’s is a thinking community, where no topic is off limits for question or discussion, and where we seek to stand firmly grounded and balanced on the proverbial “three-legged stool” of scripture, tradition, and reason.

We are currently engaged in the search for our 35th rector as a result of the retirement of the Rev. Philip Tierney. The profile of the work of the Self Study Committee reflects written surveys, congregation conversations with Interim clergy and a Parish/Vestry exercise defining qualities desired in the next Rector. We invite you to become more acquainted with us through reading and reflecting on the information in this web site.
