St Paul's Nursery School

News
September 201

In September, St. Paul’s “Weekday” Nursery School will begin its 55th year teaching children from our community and nearby communities. This year we have over 40 children enrolled in our preschool programs. At present, there are 27 - 4 year olds (16 of which are returning from last years 3 year old program) and 14 - 3 year olds. We are again offering an afternoon class for 4 year olds this year and hope to fill all 10 spots.

We are fortunate this year to have several of our wonderfully caring staff returning for the 2011-2012 school year. Carla Andronowitz has left to pursue other interests and Margaret Fonseca has retired to care for her own grandchildren (all 5 are under the age of 6). Although they will be missed, I am happy to welcome two new, veteran teachers. Elise Kenyon who taught for Wickford Nursery for over 25 years and Sharon Walsh who taught there for 15 years and is a parishioner at St. Paul’s Church, will be joining our staff this year. Our staff is as follows:

Director/Head Teacher - Linda Taraborelli
Teacher, 4 year old - Lisa Carter
Teacher, 4 year olds - Elise Kenyon
Teacher, 3 year old - Sharon Walsh
Administrative Assistant - Mary-Kate Mulligan
Teacher Assistant - Laura Factor
Teacher Assistant - Lynn Varone
Teacher/Music - Maria Day Hyde

During September the focus is on getting the children familiar with the school schedule, easing the transition from home to the classroom, and helping the children to get to know each other. We will work on sharing, taking turns and listening to each other and to their teachers. We will review the number one, the circle shape, and the colors brown and red. Of course what would September be without a unit on apples. We will listen to stories about John Chapman, “Johnny Appleseed”. We will color, cut, paint, paste, count, taste and graph different kinds of apples. Sounds like fun!

Find out more about the school by looking us up on line at: stpaulswickford.org/nschool or call 295-7320 for more information or to set up a visit. We still have a few spots for September. Pass the word along.

God Bless,
Linda
