Our school year is off to a great start. We are making new friends and getting to know one another. During October both the 3 and 4 year olds began their fire safety units. The 4’s were visited by members of the North Kingstown fire department who brought a fire engine and a rescue vehicle. The 3’s also had a visit from a fire fighter, Mr. Sironen, who is the dad of Luke Sironen, one of our 3 year olds. Both groups learned about fire safety and have begun practicing fire drills, required by the RI Dept. of Education.

The 4 year olds started our weekly Chapel Chats with Father Phil, who read a children’s bible story, and with Buddy Cavaleri, who taught the children some Christian songs. We even visited the Old Narragansett Church for one of these chats. All three 4 year old classes went on a field trip to Schartner Farms. We rode on a hay wagon, went through a maze, and visited a pumpkin patch where we could pick out a pumpkin to take home.

Our 3’s were busy learning about circles, the color orange, and signs of Fall. We went on a nature walk and used our five senses to experience the changes that take place as fall begins.

We celebrated Halloween with songs, poems, books, games, wore costumes to school and had a parade and party.

St. Paul’s Nursery School will be having a fund-raiser for the month of November. We will be raffling off themed baskets and gift certificates; the proceeds will help our programs and materials. If you would like to support this endeavor, please contact the school for tickets. The drawing will take place at our Thanksgiving Celebration on Tues., Nov. 25, in the Parish Hall.

We have begun taking names for next year. Nursery School alumni families and St. Paul’s parishioners receive priority through Thanksgiving break. Starting December 1, enrollment opens to the community. Call us (295-7320) to schedule a visit.
