Three year Old Class News: October was a busy and fun-filled month. Our themes were leaves and pumpkins. The children painted pictures with the fall colors. Mixing colors was a fun project, as well as a great science project. Fire and school safety were discussed, and we started practice fire drills. I am pleased at how well the children are following directions during these important drills. The children had the opportunity to dress up for Halloween. I took them to each classroom on a little parade, and they recited a song for the four year olds.

Four Year Old Class News: We began October with our Fire Safety Unit, learning about fire safety at school and home. We were visited by the North Kingstown Fire Department and had the opportunity to see a fire truck and a rescue truck at our school. This was so much fun and really helped us understand the importance of practicing our fire drills at school and at home. This month we also learned about Signs of Fall. We used our five senses to see, touch, taste, hear and smell the changes that take place as fall begins. We went to Schartner’s Farm and rode on a hay wagon, saw a moving scarecrow and picked pumpkins from the pumpkin patch. A special thanks goes out to the Schartner Family, who generously donated the entire field trip to our four year old classes. We started our special Chapel Times with Father Phil and Buddy Cavaleri and even had a chapel time at the Old Narragansett Church. We had our annual Halloween Parade in costume down Main Street.

We continue to take names for next year’s enrollment. Nursery School alumni families and St. Paul’s parishioners will receive priority through Thanksgiving break. Starting November 26, enrollment will be open to the community-at-large. Call 295-7320 for more information.
