May 2011
Four Year Old News: The four year olds continued our Signs of Spring unit and learned about the changes that take place in the springtime. We learned about insects, seeds, plants, and spring animals. You should have seen our bean plants!
During April, with the help of Father Patrick and Mr. Buddy, we learned about the meaning of Easter through stories and songs. We also made Easter eggs, Easter baskets and Easter bunnies. Before our Spring break, we had an Easter egg hunt on the greenway and an Easter party at snack time.
After our spring break we had a week-long unit on Earth Day. We participated in a number of hands-on activities to promote ways we can help the environment. We talked about recycling and worked on a project that recycled boxes.
Our annual May breakfast is scheduled for Monday May 2, and we have invited the Senior work committee headed by Kay Cutting and Anne Bowen to join us for juice, coffee, Cheerios, milk, bananas and mini muffins with the children. That should be fun!
Three Year Old News: Our threes had a busy April as well. They learned about spring, birds, caterpillars, butterflies, April showers and ocean life. They collaged, made rain sticks, drew with wet chalk and water colored. The threes had a presentation from the Audubon Society on “The Very Hungry Caterpillar." They are continuing to work on a very special Mother’s Day Surprise and a Mother’s Day Tea for May.
Notice: We still have several openings for 3’s and 4’s for September. Give us a call, come and see the school and pick up an application.
