St Paul's Nursery School

News
May 2007

Throughout the month of April we pretended to be scientists and continued our signs of spring unit. We observed and recorded the changes in the spring with seed and plant growth and the life cycles of butterflies and frogs.

During our “chapel chats” we learned about Easter through the wonderful stories Father Phil and Father Alan read to us and through our discussions afterwards. The children were delighted to take home the palm crosses that Father Alan made them for Palm Sunday. Despite having to hold our Easter hunt inside, the children still had lots of fun hunting for eggs and treats.

Before our spring break, we began our unit of study on houses and homes. We learned about different animals and insect homes and are watching our caterpillars as they develop (hopefully) into butterflies. Then we wrote our own traveling book about animal homes and are taking turns bringing this book home to read with our families.

The month ended with a walking field trip to the North Kingstown Free Library where the children were entertained by “Mrs. B” with a story hour. After, the children were allowed to check out a book of their choice. We had fun feeding the ducks at the bridge on our walk back to school.

One last note, we currently have a few spaces available for our 3 and 4 year classes for the fall of 2007. If you are interested or know someone who may be interested in sending their child to St. Paul’s Nursery School in September, please call the school at 295-7320. Children need to be 3 or 4 on or before September 1, 2007.
