March 2010
Three Year Old News: The month of February for our threes revolved around the themes of friendship and Valentine’s Day. One of the friendship projects was to create a friendship snack to share with their classmates. Yum! They continued to expand their “Let’s Get Fit Program” and included gross motor activities such as running, hopping and skipping in addition to the music and movement activities. Through play they will learn how to keep their bodies and teeth healthy. They touched upon Black History month and enjoyed a unit on transportation. Their new colors were red and pink and the new shape was a heart.
Four Year Old News: Our fours finished their Winter unit learning about groundhogs and Groundhog Day. We made predictions and watched the news to see what the outcome would be. Unfortunately he saw his shadow and we knew we were in for 6 more weeks of Winter. We began a unit called “All About Me”. We discussed our birthdays, addresses, phone numbers, families, including our pets, friends, things we like to do and things we like to collect. On February 9, the children brought their favorite collections in to share with the class. We continue to enjoy the Physical Education activities on a weekly basis. This is a great release of energy during the months that we do not go outside as much to play. The children wear their sneakers and we head upstairs to the “big room” to use our gross motor muscles and practice our coordination and balance. We continue our alphabet unit with 2 letters a week. The children are encouraged to bring in an item for Show and Tell that starts with the letter of the day. It’s fun to see the different things that they bring in on letter days. We had a Valentine’s Day party in which the children exchanged Valentine cards, we talked about President’s Day and learned a little about the Chinese culture and Chinese New Year.
Registrations continue to come in as we get closer to filling our openings for next September. We have a few spots left so give us a call and come in for a tour.
God Bless, Linda
