March 2007
We started off the month of February by making our own winter weather predictions, and then watched the news in the morning to find out if the groundhog saw his shadow. We learned about shadows and the groundhog’s habitat. We waited very patiently for Mother Nature to show us our favorite sign of winter weather snow. On that snowy day, we all went outside with black paper and magnifying glasses and collected and observed the most spectacular, six-sided snowflakes we have ever seen! (Besides the ones we made in our classes, of course.) We made snow inside our classrooms and used our five senses to explore its properties.
There were many holidays that we learned about during the month of February, including Lincoln’s Birthday, Valentine’s Day and Washington’s Birthday. We also learned about the Chinese culture and celebrated the Chinese New Year. This month we finished our number unit and continued our alphabet unit with the letters G, Q, V and W.
Mare’ Studio came to our school on February 7 and 8 to take individual and classroom pictures of the children. Everyone looked so nice! We should be getting the photos back in a few weeks.
Registrations are continuing to come in, and we are nearly full for next year. We still have a few spots left for the 3 year-olds for the morning classes and several openings for the 4 year-old afternoon class. Call the school for more information and to schedule a tour (295-7320).
