Three Year Old Class: May just seemed to fly. Our shape for the month was the diamond, and our color was purple. Our theme was the ocean. We made beach collages, sparkly starfish and built sand castles in our classroom. The Audubon Society came to visit with “The Salamander Room”. We ended our ocean unit with a walking field trip to Gardner’s Wharf Seafood to look at the crabs, lobsters and other marine life. We invited our mothers (and fathers) to a Mother’s Day tea, and we sang special songs to our moms and presented them with a card and a plant that we grew.

Four Year Old Class: We started the month off with a May breakfast in the Parish Hall. We went on a walking field trip to the North Kingstown library and had fun feeding the ducks. We made special Mother’s Day presents for our moms. We learned about bus safety and went on a real school bus to visit the elementary schools in North Kingstown and stopped at Wilson Park to play and have a snack. We had our last chapel chat with Father Phil and Buddy Cavaleri, and we released the butterflies that we raised in the memorial garden next to the Church. Our families were invited to a sing-a-long with Maria Day Hyde, our music teacher, and Buddy. On our last day, the children enjoyed watching Sparky’s Puppets perform. It was sad to see our 4 year olds leave, but we are confident they are well prepared to meet the challenges of kindergarten. Good luck to the class of 2008.

To all our families, thank you for all your help and support both inside and outside the classrooms. Your participation was greatly appreciated. A special thanks to the McNeil family for the beautiful garden at the entrance of our school. Your hard work and careful selection of plants will be enjoyed by our school and church families for many years to come.

We still have a few openings in our 3 and 4 year old pro-grams for September. Give us a call (295-7320).

God bless,

Linda Taraborelli, Director
