December 2009
Three Year Old Class News: November was a busy month for our 3’s. besides working on their shape of the month - triangle and the month’s color - brown, they were also busy learning about the Pilgrims, Native Americans and the First Thanksgiving. Some of the activities that the children worked on were making chocolate pudding, painting with feathers, decorating Indian headdresses, Pilgrim hats and lots and lots of turkeys. The children reflected on the many things they are thankful for and ended the month with a “We Are Thankful” program with families present.
Four Year Old Class News: The 4’s began their month with parent – teacher conferences which were very informative. Our annual trip to Big John Leyden’s Christmas Tree Farm took place on November 10th. We learned all about planting, growing and caring for Christmas trees and enjoyed a hayride and a story in the green house. We had our unit on Thanksgiving and the Native American Indians and invited our families to join us for a program of song and dance with Miss Maria, celebrating the Thanksgiving Holiday. We had an opportunity to experience Chapel in the Old Narragansett Church with Father Phil and Buddy Cavalieri. That is always a favorite. Families were invited to attend. We continued to review shapes, colors and number units.
Its basket raffle time again. This year we will be raffling off 8 different themed baskets. The drawing will take place in December just in time for Christmas. Look for more information soon.
We are continuing to take names for next year’s enrollment. We have begun giving tours of the school. We have spaces available for the 3’s and 4’s for next September. Enrollment is now open to the community. Please call the school at 295-7320 for more information or to set up a visit.
God Bless
Linda
