(This month Margaret takes us on a tour of the three-year old class activities. – Eds.)

We started the month of March with the celebration of Dr. Seuss's birthday. Our color for the month was green, and we enjoyed green finger painting, which is a great open-ended form of art as well as an excellent sensory activity. Our classroom library has a variety of books written by Dr. Seuss, and various children's authors. The classroom library is a great place for the children to relax and enjoy the wonderful world of literature.

The temperature is slowly rising, and spring is here. Since March is a windy month, we have made kites and wind socks. The children had the opportunity to go outside and fly the kites. During our outside time, the children have observed the signs of spring, green grass growing, birds gathering various sticks and materials for their nests, and the buds forming on the trees.

Nursery rhymes have also been included in our unit this month. Nursery rhymes are an easy introduction to poetry, as well as to the concept of rhyming words. We sang many of our nursery rhymes, which helped us develop an enjoyment of music and singing.

The theme this month included wind and air, spring holidays, wonderful rainbows, baby animals and spring birds that have returned to visit us for the season.

Enjoy each and every day as you explore the concepts that are related to spring.
