From the Director of Liturgy and Music
Mark Steinbach, DMA
Organist and Choirmaster
Welcome back everyone from your busy summers!
The benefits of music making have long been touted for health and mental clarity benefits. As they say, you don't have to be happy to whistle; it simply has that effect. Try it! Making music together lifts the spirit. Choirs are forming for the fall season. Come give us a try!
St. Paul’s Children’s Choir (1st through 3rd grade) will be rehearsing after Sunday School following the 8:30 service. Please contact Nancy Sherman, director, if interested at ***.
St. Paul's Youth Choir (4th grade and older) will also rehearse Sunday mornings after Sunday School. Please contact our director, Rozanne Fuller at ***.
Both these choirs will be participating in the annual Lessons and Carols services, Christmas Eve service and the "All State" choral Evensong in the spring.
The "Choir at 8" continues to welcome high-school age and older and sings at the Sunday 8:30 service, leading the hymns and service music. We have a good time worshipping together! This is a good group to join if you have had no previous vocal experience.
The Parish Choir rehearses Thursdays from 7:30-9:30 pm and sings weekly at the 10:30 service. We are always looking for new members who desire to sing the great music of the church and minister together.
If you play a musical instrument and would like to share at St. Paul’s, please contact me. We have several talented musicians in the parish who regularly offer their time and talents.
Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 28 at 7 pm for the service of Choral Evensong to take place in the Old Narragansett Church. The Parish Choir will sing music of John Blow (a contemporary of Purcell) and the Renaissance master Palestrina.
