From the Director of Liturgy and Music

Mark Steinbach, DMA
Organist and Choirmaster

"O holy Child of Bethlehem, descend to us, we pray; cast out our sin and enter in, be born in us today. We hear the Christmas angels the great glad tidings tell; O come to us, abide with us, our Lord Emmanuel." ~ Philip Brooks (1835-1893)

To celebrate this season of Advent, the Children's, Youth and Parish Choirs are presenting a Festival of Advent Lessons and Carols, Sunday, Dec. 14 at 5 pm. Traditional readings and a variety of musical meditations will fill the night air. St. Paul's hospitality team will host a glowing reception following the service. Don't miss this wonderful annual event! A free will offering for charity will be gathered.

Sung prayers were offered All Saints' Day at both Sunday morning liturgies with a chamber orchestra accompanying St. Paul's Choir performing Haydn's triumphant Missa brevis de Johannis de Deo. Thank you, Pat Petersen, our concertmaster for the morning! Thank you, Youth Choir, for inspiring us with your vocal gifts!

The choirs are diligently rehearsing for Christmas and Epiphany events. Many thanks to all choir participants who have given of their time and efforts, developing their talents to the glory of God! Also thank you to choir parents, guardians and spouses who have faithfully shared in the commitment to the worship life of St. Paul's.

Our annual Epiphany Evensong will take place January 11 at 7 pm in the Old Narragansett Church with a reception following in the Parish Hall. We hope to see you there! Dress warmly!

Peace,

Mark
