From the Director of Liturgy and Music
Mark Steinbach, DMA
Organist and Choirmaster
“I will sing with the spirit and with the understanding also.”
This quote of St. Paul to the Corinthians is also the motto for the Royal School of Church Music, the program we are using with St. Paul’s Youth Choir. It is a motto we would like to adopt for all of our choirs.
After meeting with parents of choristers recently, we have decided that the youth choir will meet Sundays at 9:00AM before service to work on their RSCM (Royal School of Church Music) medals. This system rewards learning of intervals, using the voice well, singing as part of a choir, and all sorts of skill sharpening activity. It’s the best free music education you will find---but it is much more than that, as we serve in ministry together.
The choir program is off to a great start. We are still welcoming new members in all age groups. Please contact us if you or your child is interested in joining!

The Parish and Youth Choirs will be singing Evensong October 4 at 5:00PM at St. Paul’s Church. The Choir will sing the engaging canticles by the English composer Thomas Attwood Walmisley (1814-1856) who was the godson of the composer Thomas Attwood. We will also be singing a lively motet by the German baroque composer Heinrich Schütz and contemporary composer Peter Hallock. Come along and bring a friend! The service will be followed by a festive reception in the chapter room.
