Organist and Choirmaster

A happy new year to one and all!

Please join us in celebrating the Epiphany at the Old Narragansett Church, Sunday, January 11 at 7 pm for traditional Anglican Evensong. The Parish Choir will be singing a setting of the Magnificat and Nunc dimittis canticles by English composer Thomas Morley, "The three Kings" by German composer Peter Cornelius (a contemporary and friend of Romantic composer Franz Liszt) and David Hurd, contemporary American composer. A festive repast will follow in the Parish Hall.

Thank you to the many hearts, hands and voices which enhanced our worship and fellowship throughout the Advent and Christmas season: the Altar Guild, for all of the beautiful flowers, candles to light our way and many other vital things unseen, Debbie in the office for all of those extra programs and details kept, Elisa Roe and choir members and parents for the lovely reception following the Advent Lessons and Carols service, Bill, our faithful sexton, and finally the support from our Clergy and the countless other volunteers at St. Paul's who contribute through time, talent and tithes!

Bravo to St. Paul's Children’s Choir director Nancy Sherman and members Sophia Change, Pauline Change, Caleb Cranston, Meagan Frye, Skylar Krajack, Chelsea Kuiper, Alaina Minarik, Gillian Minarik, Gianna Stewart and Brigid White, who offered their songs of praise at the Festival of Advent Lessons and Carols, sang for the Bishop's visitation, and the Christmas Liturgy at 3 pm.

Thank you, Youth Choir diector Rozanne Fuller and members Sophie Brown, Sarah Cavaleri, Elizabeth Fusco, Sophia Fusco and Lydia Rumowicz, who jubilantly sang the 5 pm Liturgy Christmas Eve and Lessons and Carols and the Bishop's visitation. We will be gearing up for our All State Choral Evensong in the spring, so now is the time to join up for the new year to take part in this cool event! Please see Rozanne Fuller to sign up! Thank you, Parish Choir members Walter Burrows, Tina Butler, Susan Cerullo, Jill Clement, Ryan Cranston, Gail Cyr, Camilla deRochambeau, Rozanne Fuller, Marianne Goodrich, Mary B. Hall, Diane Hoffman, Dora Martorelli, Norm Poulin, Eleanor Ricci, Carrie Scheff, Diane Slader and Tom Spink. Thanks to the very talented David Tyler, June Spink's grandson, a voice major at McGill University in Montreal, for joining us in Advent and Christmas. Thanks also to our choir alums Marc Donnelly, Michelle deLoge and Pete Haynsworth, who joined us for the holiday season. If you would like to participate in the choir through a limited season, we would also welcome YOU! Please let me know!

Heartfelt thanks to our resident violist/violinist Pat Petersen, who gives so freely of her talents. Thank you to our percussionist, Jesse-Ray Leich, who is to be congratulated on winning 1st in All-state percussion for his division. Congratulations, Jesse-Ray! Thanks also to Joe and Bonnie Smith, Kevin O' Connor, Buddy Cavaleri, Maria Day Hyde and our other parish musicians. Please let me know if you play an instrument and would like to volunteer your talents at St. Paul's!

Peace,

Mark
