February 2005

From the Director of Liturgy and Music

Mark Steinbach, DMA
Organist and Choirmaster

"Arise, shine for your light has come and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you!" - Isaiah

The Epiphany season is shorter than usual this year because Easter falls on March 27, thus pushing the beginning of Lent to February 9. We will celebrate the Last Sunday after the Epiphany, commonly called "Alleluia Sunday", Feb. 6 with the singing of many hymns with "Alleluia" and the singing of the Biblical Canticle of Isaiah, "Surge Illuminare" (quote above).

Thank you, Parish Choir and Father Phil, for your warming tones at the chilly Epiphany Evensong in the Old Narragansett Church. The hospitality crew once again created a festive reception worthy of the three Magi themselves!

Youth, children's and adult choirs are currently welcoming new members! Sign up now to sing that glorious Holy Week and Easter music! "Wednesday Night Live" is the new time for the Youth Choir to meet. Come try it out; invite a friend!

A blessed Epiphany and Lent season to all!

Mark
