2011 Gardening Season
- Priority will be given to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church members
- Plots will be assigned first come, first serve
- Each Gardener must sign and agree to follow the Garden By-Laws
- Gardeners should try and participate in at least one planting and/or clean-up days
- Paths and plots should be kept as free of weeds and debris as possible
- Crops in individual plots must be harvested once they are mature. If you can not use all your harvest, please let us know. Extra produce will be given to the food pantry or sold to benefit the St. Paul’s Community Garden. Please let a Garden Coordinator know if you have any surplus
- Please do not sell anything you grow in the garden for your profit. We would like to maintain the integrity of the Community Garden. The Garden is for nourishing our families and the community. If we sell surplus produce, the money goes back to the Garden for supplies such as organic fertilizer, organic pesticides, frost blankets etc.. This is not nor will it ever be a for profit venture
- We suggest every plot owner have a “Garden Buddy.” A “Garden Buddy” is a fellow Community Garden member that will take care of your plot when you are away, sick or busy. If you are having a hard time finding a “Garden Buddy”, please let a Coordinator know and we will find one for you
- If you require large amounts of any row crop for canning, please talk to the Farm Manager before taking it
- We discourage growing row crops and invasive crops in your individual plots e.g. squash, mint etc
- This is an organic garden. If you are struggling with a pest or disease in your plot, please let a Garden Coordinator or the Farm Manager know ASAP. We must address any pest/disease problem immediately using organic means so it will not affect the rest of the garden. Pesticides and inorganic fertilizers are not allowed without prior approval
- Please use organically grown plants. If you are purchasing any plant from a store, please inspect them thoroughly for pests and disease before putting it in the garden. If you have any questions on what to look for, we are here to help
- We are subject to nature’s whims. Some years will be great and in others we may battle beetles, blight and drought. With your help, we will work hand in hand every season to do our best for the land, for our family and our community.
Becoming a St. Paul’s Community Garden Member means you have agreed to follow the above community garden by-laws.
