Welcome back! We are excited for another fun year of Sunday school. All children, age 3 and above, are invited to register for classes. Registration will take place at our Parish Day celebration on September 13, following the 9:30 am service. Sunday school classes will begin the following Sunday, September 20.
FAQ: When does Sunday school take place? Sunday school is held during the Family service. Children attend the first part of the service with their families, about ˝ hour, and then are dismissed with their teachers to attend classroom instruction in the Parish Hall. Class time usually runs 50-60 minutes depending upon the lesson and activities.
When can I register my child? Registration begins following the 9:30 am service on Parish Day and continues throughout the school year. Registration cards are always available on the children’s snack table during the school year.
How much does it cost? There is no charge. We encourage families to help out when needed and donations of snacks and supplies are always accepted.
My child is three years old, can he/she attend? All children three and above are eligible to attend classes. We do allow the preschool teachers to make the final decision about their students. Children need to be able to follow simple directions and be able to sit quietly for some short periods of time. Most three year olds do very well and enjoy the preschool/kindergarten class.
How can I help out? If you would like to help out please speak with your child’s teacher, or me any time during the school year. Donations of snacks, craft items, school supplies are always welcome. If you have a special craft skill, storytelling ability, etc. that you would like to share with the children, please contact us.
How about high school students? There is a high school class. Tenth graders interested in receiving their confirmation are required to take this class. It covers a variety of topics of interest to high school students. There will be a mandatory parent/student meeting on September 27, following Sunday school. At that time, we will give an overview of the class, discuss requirements of confirmation, and decide on the best time to hold the class.
We are still looking for another volunteer to share teaching duties in the fourth grade. There are two experienced teachers in place already, but we would like a third teacher to help lighten the load and allow more flexible scheduling. No experience is necessary, we supply curriculum. If you are interested, please contact me at home (number available on request), as soon as possible. Thank you to the volunteers who have agreed to teach this year. We have a wonderful group of creative teachers again this year, and I look forward to another great year. If you have any additional questions, please call me. I’ll see you in September.
