The Sunday School has been busy practicing singing “The Perfect Ten”. We hope to sing this in April during the 8:30 service. The children enjoy learning about the Ten Commandments through this song, and are looking forward to sharing this with others. Keep the first weekend in April open, so you can come listen to these children as they sing this song on the last Sunday in Lent.
The tenth grade class has been busy preparing for their confirmation in May. Recently, they met with Father Gates and shared in a Eucharist during their class time. It was a wonderful way to learn about and take part in this special part of our service.
The fifth grade also began learning about communion. They’ve been learning why their class is called the “Emmaus” class, and how Jesus’ followers’ eyes were “opened” during the breaking of the bread. The class is beginning to see the church in a more mature and spiritual way. This process will continue until they choose to be confirmed in tenth grade.
Last year, we sent T-shirts to children in Liberia. Recently, we received thank-you notes from these children. We were really excited to receive these notes, and the children have now started to write letters back to this Episcopal school. We’re hoping to share our faith, over the miles, and see how children in Africa think, hope and dream. Thank you to Tina Egan for organizing this project. The letters have been on display during the 8:30 coffee hour in the Parish Hall.
The children are looking forward to Holy Week and the Easter season. We have lots of special activities planned for the rest of the year. Come join us on Sunday mornings; friends are always welcome.
