Over the year, I am asked certain questions about various aspects of the Sunday School. Since we are heading into the busiest time of year for the youth, I’ll answer some of these questions in print to allow more people to have the answers.
FAQ
- Who can attend Sunday School? Any child or youth. Toddler care is available for children 1-3 years old, during both services on Sunday morning. If your child is age 3 or older, they can attend classroom instruction. We have classes available through High School age. Friends are always welcome. You can register your child on Sunday mornings any time during the school year.
- What do classes involve? We follow the “faith weaver’s” curriculum. This is frequently supplemented with Bible stories, music, games, and crafts. We like to show how they can use these teachings in their everyday lives.
- What is the Emmaus class? The fifth grade class is known as the Emmaus class. It is open to all fifth graders. The youth are beginning their journey to a more mature relationship with God and the Church that begins with the Emmaus class and continues through Confirmation and adulthood.
- What does Emmaus mean? The fifth graders will find out this month. Ask one of them.
- At what age do the youth get confirmed? Tenth graders are invited to attend Confirmation classes in conjunction with the High School class. After attending these classes, these teenagers will make the personal decision if they want to walk with Christ.
- What is Youth Sunday? On May 18th, the youth of St. Paul’s are celebrated during the services. This is a wonderful day that showcases these amazing youth. The fifth grade class takes part in the 8:30 am service, followed by a reception in the Parish Hall. The Confirmands, during the 10:30 service, receive their Confirmation certificates and a gift from the church in honor of this important step in their lives. A special coffee hour will follow.
