Lay Ministries at St. Paul's

This new page of the Communicant will highlight the activities of the many Lay Ministries active in the life of this congregation and the community at large. Each month we will bring you a brief description of one or two of the many ongoing as well as new ministries by the people of St. Paul's as we strive to grow into a mature "body of Christ." Anyone with questions or ideas concerning Lay Ministries is encouraged to contact Ted Seymour through the church office or at:

This month features a new ministry called St. Paul's Home Repair Program. Recently considered by the Ministry Discernment Team and approved by the Vestry, this program will provide free home repair services to members of St. Paul's with limited means. Examples of work performed will include but not be limited to:

  • Handicap ramps and access issues
  • Upgrading safety issues, such as stairs, railings
  • Making homes more "user friendly"
  • Allow the elderly to stay in their own home longer.

Following an inquiry for assistance, a home visit will be done by me to ascertain the need and possible solutions. A Revolving Loan fund is being set up by the Vestry to pay for materials, which recipients of the work will pay back over time.

Volunteers, skilled and unskilled, men and women are needed to work. Supervision will be provided. So far Peter Crooker, Doug MacPherson and Bob Palmer have expressed an interest in participating. If you or someone you know would like to help, or needs this type of service, please contact me at the church office or at the email above.
